After purchasing several other thermometers, this is the only underarm thermometer we have had any confidence in. It is quick and honestly consistent. It is an underarm thermometer, so no, it will not replace an oral or rectal thermometer. But, because this thermometer is so quick and minimally invasive (our son says we are taking his “tickle temp”), we can use it whenever we have even the slightest touch that our child has a temperature. We have noticed that continual readings are usually surrounded by about .3 degrees of each other. If the temperature is high, we take a more accurate (read: more invasive) temperature.
Don’t know what we would do without this thermometer.

When you’re child is too ancient for rectal and not ancient enough for under-the-tongue, you get this one.
I initially bought a Braun ear thermometer that twisted out accurate only a small percentage of the time when I got the angle into the ear right.
I have since bought this underarm thermometer and it is simpler to use and consequently gets a more consistent temperature. My 19 month ancient allows me to hold it under her arm and it only takes 8 seconds, then beeps to tell you it’s ready. Very simple to use. You do have to remember to add 1 degree onto whatever reading you get to get the accurate temp.
When my child had a 102F fever last week, I used this thermometer AND the Braun ear one to double check and was able to match up the readings easily.
Only under-the-tongue or rectal thermometers are the most accurate. Perhaps the temporal one as well, but I am not traditional with that one.
Otherwise, I feel using this thermometer and double checking with an ear one is your next best bet.

This “Themometer” proves you can’t get something for nothing. Quick and low-cost never works. This thing never gives the same reading. My baby was burning up and this product gave a temp reading of 98.5, using a real Themometer under the same arm found it was 102.5. This was not the initially time this happend but its the last because this thing is going in the trash.

This is the thermometer we reach for initially, of the three we have bought. It is consistently a quick read, providing an accurate temperature surrounded by seconds, so you don’t have to hold a squirming small one with the thermometer clamped under their arm.
The show is huge enough that my two-year-ancient can watch the numbers climbing as his axillary temp is being taken, which encourages him to hold still.
It provides a pleasant beeping when it is done reading, and a more urgent beeping if the temp is into fever zone.
As an added bonus, it is quite well sealed, and consequently has a excellent level of water-resistance, which always helps when you are dealing with a sick child!
