The nipple on this thing is HUGE and pretty hard so I don’t reckon it would work for most babies because it would gag them and they probably just wouldn’t like it. I’ve tried this in my mouth, it isn’t comfortable like regular pacifiers at all and it took so long to reach a temperature I took it out of my mouth before it was done, this was over 2 minutes so I don’t even know if this thing is accurate at all.
My girls were preemies and this was WAY too huge for them. I’ve tried to use this thing many different times and my girls always spit it aptly out, even if I tried to hold it there they would push it out with their tongue, they HATE it. My girls are currently 14 months ancient and like their Binky pacifiers but I’ve tried to get them to use this to take their temps several times and they make a face & push it aptly out.
My girls HATE & have always despised having their temperature taken under the arm pit but they do not mind it taken rectally, it IS very simple and the most accurate. I use an Exergen Temperal for when they are sleeping because it is accurate enough to let me know if they have a temp and if it is a high temp. If it shows they have a higher temp then I get them up and take their temp rectally to make sure I get the most accurate temperature. I recommend the Vicks Rectal Thermometer for that.
I reckon companies make products like the pacifier thermometer because as new parents it sounds like a excellent thought but in reality, they just don’t work and I’m sure your Dr will tell you the same thing.

this thermometer is pretty consistent, but the nipple is too large for young babies. after my 2 month ancient gagged on this twice he started refusing his other pacifiers!

The doctor said that these aren’t accruate enough, but it is so much simpler to use than under the arm. At least it gives you a approximate of where the temp is at.

When I bought this item, I plotting this was a really clever way to take a baby’s temperature. I use this thermometer only on occasion. It’s convenient, but it requires about 3 minutes before a closing temperature is reached. It requires that your baby keep it in his mouth for that long. It’s getting harder for my baby to accept this “pacifier”, now that she is on the larger, 6-month-plus sized pacifiers. Also, check with your doctor about how to take accurate readings: our pediatrician said that a rectal thermometer was the most accurate for the early weeks of her life.
