I initially saw this bag at the 2007 Firehouse Expo. I’d been looking for a BLS bag but I couldn’t find one I liked, and I’m glad waited when I found this one.
The guy who designed this bag is an ALS Captain and it’s obvious. The front of the bag has a zippered enclosure to keep red tape/pens in, plus a smaller one for gloves, as well as two separate zippered long “sleeves” which thwart each other in the front which one can place tubing into. It also has two mesh pockets with elastic openings for anything small you might want as simple to reach.
There’s two zippered outer pockets on the top of the bag, each with two elastic pockets inside them. There’s enough room in a pocket where I can place my stethoscope and adult BP cuff and have no tribulations zipping it closed.
The inside of the bag is completely customizable, thankfulness to adjustable sliding dividers which can be went around to fit your equipment but you’d like — and you can fit quite a lot. It also comes with a comes off see-through “Deep Stuff” pocket (9′L x 8′W) on the inside cover flap where you can store pads/gloves/anything flat, as well as two 7 inch hook & loop straps with four loops (called “Stickit Strips”) each which can fit airway adjuncts, penlights, etc.. (Additional “Stickit Strips” and “Deep Stuff” pockets can be bought from Meret)
There’s also two flaps which not only help keep your equipment from spilling out into other inside pockets when the bag is closed, but also have attachments for four additional “Stickit Strips” or two “Deep Stuff” pockets (or one “Deep Stuff” pocket and two “Stickit Strips”). The other side of the flaps also have additional zippered storage space for gloves/pads/anything flat.
Another bonus feature of this bag is one can add up to two miscellaneous Meret modules to the outside thankfulness to more attachment strips.
There’s a briefcase handle on the top, as well as a handle on both sides. It also has backpack straps so it can be easily carried on your back/shoulder. There is a shoulder strap unfilled, but it must be bought separately and I don’t reckon would be needed because of the backpack straps.
If you’re looking for a BLS/ALS bag for your engine/ambulance, I vastly recommend it. The customizability of this bag is a huge plus. I bought this for my car, so the size is larger a bit than I need, but then again I can pack just about anything/all I’d need to answer minus an O2 pot.
