When I initially plotting about buying this humidifier, I based my choice on the reviews that were on paper about this product. When I initially got the unit, all seemed fine apart from for the filter. It arrived with some brown discoloring around the edge. Also, the humidifier looked like it has been used. I’m not sure if I was sold a used one; If I was, that is yucky and unsanitary. There is dark yellowing inside the unit that I had to clean off when I initially got it. After using the unit for a few months, the same yellowing came back so that led me to believe that I was sold a used one. It seems to do the job, but the water gets cloudy everyday and it is a pain to have to dump all the water out and refill it. No one should have to be sold a used unit, period.

This buy was an extreme disappointment for several reasons. Initially, the “3 Gallon Humidifier” title is horribly misleading. The humidifier really holds 1 ¾ gallons but can evaporate 3 gallons in a day. That’s like telling me how many gallons my car’s gas tank can take in per day: fascinating, I suppose, but not all that useful if I have to keep refilling it. Second, there is no simple way to refill this thing. You can either pour water into a top panel without moving the humidifier (which essentially requires that you have a hose or a bucket handy) or partially disassemble the top assembly with the fan and hoses from the bottom panel with the reservoir (which gets water everywhere). Other designs with lift-out water carriers are far stuck-up. Finally, it erratically makes a gurgling/dripping noise that is loud enough to disturb my sleep and make me reckon I need to go to the bathroom. Do not waste your money on this humidifier.

I was disappointed with this humidifier. It does seem to work well, but it is much louder than what I’m used to. I’ve been using a Venta VS207 (no longer unfilled to buy) which is nearly inaudible, so I’m not used to any humidifier noise. We have small children in bedrooms nearby, and this unit is loud enough to make it hard to hear them if they wake up in the middle of the night, even if we leave it on the buck setting. Plus, the self cleaning feature flows water across its interior surfaces constantly, which to me sounds like I left the water in succession somewhere.
I also found it hard to refill. Your options are 1) take it apart and carry the base to the sink. There is no handle or lid to the base so you have to be very careful not to spill. Or 2) make 3 trips back and forth to the bathroom with a gallon pot. I don’t like either option, so I give this a thumbs down.

I’ve been using this humidifier for over a month and like it so far. It is not silent, but I delight in the water trickling sound and the low hum of the motor. It’s a nice colorless sound and makes it comfortable for me to sleep.
