Surpass yet, you never need to replace batteries or bulbs, its patented alternator can generate 1,500 mAH compared with 30-50 mAH a handshake type or 60-80 mAH by a squeeze type, which means it’s 20 times more efficient when it comes to charging the internal battery, the flashlight can last 30 minutes if cranked for 1 minute. The life time of these LED bulbs are rated at 80,000 hours. This LED flashlight is also water resistant so it’s perfect for outdoors use, simply keep it in you car, RV and your emergency kit. Ordered 2 and been in use since Jan 2010. Does not perform as advertised in terms of charge: “lasts 30 minutes cranked 1 minute”. Depends on what you mean by “lasts 30 minutes”. If we define 3 levels of light, as level 1, lights your way in pitch dark up to 3 meters, level 2: only just lights your way one meter ahead and level 3 as “yeah, there is still some light in it”, then after 1 minute crank you really get 30 seconds level 1, 10 minutes level 2, and forever level 3 (no patience to wait until it completely dies out).
But, if you crank it 5 minutes or more (and you are strong and healthy), then you will get your 30 minutes at level 1 and surely another 30 minutes at level 2. Level 3 is useless.
So, it does not perform as advertised, but it is still quite useful. Really, to reduce my carbon footprint, I carry it nearly everywhere at night now:) I am not the grudging type.
What could be improved? the on/off button is poorly placed: it is aptly where you need your best grip while cranking, so you cannot grip as strongly as you would want to and makes cranking more hard. You can get used to it, but it is a nuisance (from 0 to 5: 2).
You are not held to crank with the LEDs twisted on: it practically won’t charge with the light on. Of course, in an emergency, you can get by cranking while the light is on, but the residual charge will be nearly none.
Also, there is no way to tell how long you should crank and fully charge the battery nor is there any mention of hurt from overcharge. I guess the red light that indicates it is charging could go off when the battery is fully charged, or maybe it already has the feature included but I never reached that point.
The specs should be more professional: give lumen output (or surpass, a practical luminosity scheme like mine, but more elaborated) plot against time for 1, 5 and 10 minutes charge and give a maximum cranking time.
The charger would be nice, but it does not come with the lamp. Too terrible.

really nice. i ordered 2 and 1 is fabulous, but the other has a harder time holding a charge. maybe im too impatient and not cranking it enough. other than that, i like them

I’ve had two of these flashlights, now in use for more than two years. I use them every day (to walk the dog)….it puts out plenty of light; can be charged with a charger, or used with the crank. I’m bowled over how many drops they have endured – and how excellent the light is. The beam is not focussed well at a distance – but they are tried and right. I’m about to order two more for the cars.
