It’s huge and it’s boxy, but this humidifier is designed to humidify an entire house–up to 2,500 square feet. Using an evaporative system and unheated, natural, evaporated water, this humidifier requires less energy than warm mist or steam units. You also won’t have to deal with colorless dust, spray, or mist on furniture or floors. Other benefits of the evaporative system include: relief from symptoms of dry skin, uncomfortable eyes, chapped lips, and scratchy throat; it prevents plants and furniture from becoming overly dry; and reduced static electricity protects computers and electronics. This humidifier’s water pot holds 5 gallons and disperses up to 12 gallons of water per day, refilling easily and neatly in the sink via an included hose. Cleaning the rest of the appliance is just as simple: the power unit lifts off the top of the humidifier for simple cleaning and servicing, while the evaporative wick, which filters out mineral deposits, also lifts out for replacing. Controls are hidden behind a panel on the top of the unit. Select a preferred damp from the humidistat dial and this model will automatically turn itself on and off to maintain the chosen damp level. Doesn’t it seem weird to have a humidifier that disperses 12 gals a day but only holds 5 gals? That means you have to refill it twice a day. Why not have a large tank (say, 12 gals?) that you can fill easily with a bucket?

This product works, but it seems like it was cost reduced to the max. The fake case is one piece and as thin as it could be without breaking. It has only one 2.25 gal tank to fill it, but it takes 4.5 gal to fill it, so you do it twice. The filler hose is low-cost and kinked and looks like it came from a low-cost aquarium, watch out when you use it. If it gets blocked by the kinks, water flies everywhere. The hang switch is as flimsy as can be, mine does not really work unless you bang the side of the humidifier (not too hard, or the case might break). The fan is noisy as heck apart from on the slow speed, don’t place it in a bedroom. But it works, it does humidify a house, for how long, I am not sure. Whoever cost reduced this product, do not go to work in the aviation industry, as I glide quite regularly.

Since I live in the middle of nowhere on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee, I orderd a replacement evaporative wick so I don’t have a crisis when the time to replace happens. The present Amazon product description says a replacment wick #1041 will work, but it only kinda does. One has to use duct tape or glue to remanufacture it to replace what came with the unit. I called the vendor, and the self I spoke with said the proper replacement wick was #1045, which I ordered through the vendor. Then I called Amazon consumer service to try right the error in the present advertising, with a bit of luck to help others avoid my aggrevation. By consumer reviews, I see at least one other has had the same aggrevation. Anyway, excellent luck.

This Humidifier has been a god-send, works perfectly, simple to use and was simple to set up. With the humidifier, my house is much warmer and the heat comes on much less, just an all around exceptional product!
