I will cut to the point. After 3 months of regular use, It isn’t a matter of material choice, but rather the design compared to expected use.
1. All proper shower floors should slope to facilitate draining. If you are not frankly over the drain with this 4 legged item, you will experience a slight rocking/tipping in one direction since the slope on opposite sides of the drain will be different. Just an annoyance since their is no way for the seat to compensate for minor variations. Perhaps a larger/bendable fake foothold?
2. A triangular shape on a square base. What idiot designed this. You cant fit this in the confront of anything. The expected confront leg will always protrude into the confront by a couple inches and the opposite leg will do the same. I can only speak for my own space tribulations in the shower, but my shower could use the extra inches.
Positive: Its huge and will easily support most people. No rust on the metal. No cracking of the plastics or wood. my wife uses this constantly. I’ve used it on occasion to just prop myself up under the shower for a long steam soak when I am experiencing the common head cold.

We had just finished remodeling a bathroom, installing a walk-in shower, and we wanted a practical, but attractive seat for it. We had chose upon a teak stool, but most that I found were quite pricey. I found this exact same stool advertised by a discount retailer at what seemed an exceptional price compared to others I had found. I had plotted to go out to buy the stool later on the day I finally plotting to check Amazon. Imagine my surprise and happiness to find exactly the same stool for $20 less than the store’s advertised price. My saving was increased by the lack of sales tax, and Amazon’s free shipping made it an incredible bargain! The stool is large enough to provide comfortable seating, but small enough to fit out of the way in a confront of the shower when not in use. Although the bathroom with the stool is primarily “his” bath, I delight in using it when I want to sit down in a steamy shower or beat away at sore muscles!

Well, I bought this for my pregnant wife so that she could shave her legs in our 3′ by 4′ standup shower, but this thing was a lot larger than I’d plotting, and didn’t fit at all. That part was my fault. What was really pathetic was that the wood on this thing chipped after only about a week being in the shower. How is that possible for a shower stool to chip in only a week in the shower? I wonder what kind of wood this really is, because I’m skeptical that it’s Teak. Anyway, I’d stay away from this one. Unless you’re into lighting $60 on fire.

This stool was fantastic – it looks nice, is sturdy, and really nice. Our only problem with it was that it was larger than we expected. We have a shower stall and expected the stool to fit in the confront, but instead it took up half the shower. Make sure you check the dimensions before you buy it. If it fits, it’s a fantastic stool!
