I’ve been looking at & pricing dehumidifiers, including Danby brand. Seems
like they have a excellent deal of tribulations, and that the response on the part
of their consumer service is lousy. Someone mentioned in a review that they
had a dehumidifier that was 30 yrs. ancient. I’ll wager that none of the junk
ANY of the manufacturers are selling today would even come close to that
length of service. Glad I didn’t buy the Danby (or any other unit). They are
all overpriced. and too much vex. Guess I’ll keep the ancient one….it
works well.

We bought model DDR3008EE in 6/08 . It worked well at initially, but in Fall 2008 ate a lot of power, and its anti-icing gathering appeared to stop working. We didn’t use it over the winter. We twisted it on in 7/09 and found its coils would not cool. Other than the fan blowing air, it was really non-functional. A local shop confirmed that the coolant had leaked out. It took many calls to Danby just to finally get a human being instead of a machine. The man told me Danby couldn’t help us as the 1 year warranty had run out. We paid $242 for this piece of junk. We won’t ever buy a Danby product again.

This unit was bought because of a excellent review in consumer reports for a Canadian product. Unfortunately that product was not for sale in the USA. When I called Danby frankly I was told that the model I ultimately bought was the same as the Canadian product only produced for the US market.
My problem with this unit is that it NEVER shuts off even when the set point is reached. When I checked this out with Danby again, I was told that it was a design factor so energy expenditure were reduced. Frankly, this is technically unlikely but even if it were, the significant noise made by the unit makes it vastly undesirable for bedroom use and in fact contradicts the claim that it is a particularly QUIET unit — clearly it is not.
I am VERY miserable with this buy choice Both Amazon and Danby ought to take this unit back and remove it from the market

humidifier is placed in a wet basement. silent, can’t hear it above. holds damp at the selected %. only downside is fan runs constantly, even when much loved damp level is reached.

It has worked very well in very moist spring weather. Removes a large amount of moisture in a very small period of time. Located in a basement laundry room.
It is silent, but not silent enough for a living area.
