We bought the CICA-CARE Gel Sheet by Smith & Nephew following surgery to reduce our son’s scarring from severe burns. The gel strips do an exceptional job of reducing raised scars from the surgery. We noticed enhancement very soon after we started to use the sheets. But, there are a few drawbacks to the gel sheets. The initially is that they come in a 5″ x 6″ square. The scars from his surgery were long and narrow causing us to cut them in narrow strips to cover the scarring. It would be exceptional if this same product could be produced in strips. The other drawback was the price. We know that the price covers more than just manufacturing of the sheet and that there was a fantastic amount of research and development expenditure to cover, but it is still tough paying $60 for a 5″ x 6″ gel sheet. (Amazon was the least expensive place we found for the product).
Overall, we would vastly recommend the use of the gel sheets for people needing to reduce scarring. This product was recommended to us by our son’s surgeon and we are thankful he provided us the info on the product.
