My husband and I are on our 4th month trying to conceive. I have heard that a excellent way to gauge your ovulation time is with a basal thermometer, so I got one just to help the process along. After not even a month of using this I got tired of it. My temperatures were all over the place even though I was doing them at the same time every morning before I got out of bed.
I spoke with my Dr. about using these. She said that these are not for everyone. Some women don’t have any correlation between their ovulation and their temperature changing. It was a lot more stress than it was worth, for me. There are a lot of things to keep track of in addition to just taking your temperature, and for me, it was just too much.
The thermometer itself does a fine job. The back light was nice and it takes the temperature accurately from what I could tell. It does take a while for it to take your temperature though. The constant beep while it’s taking your temperature is a nice indicator that it is still working, but also annoying that it is continuous. It would be surpass if it just beeped when it was finished or if there was an error.

Received mine today. Read a temperature and got 96.8. Then compared it to the one I used for the last 10 years and got 98.1. So we have 1.3 degree difference.
If I would trust this temperate I would need to go to the doctor.
I wonder what temperature readings got the reviewers of a positive feedbacks!
Will try to give it another chance and replace it for another one.

I’ll keep this review small, simple and to the point. The thermometer consistently reads my temperature (and my girlfriend’s temperature) at 96 or 97 degrees. Either we’re nearly dead, or this thing doesn’t work. It never registered normally, not even once. We each tried it a dozen times, both with the covers and without, and got the same result either way.
As for the reason for two stars instead of one: it is simple to use.

Like it besides the fact that it beeps, I reckon every 15 seconds for a full min. That is very annoying.

Initially of all, as far as I can tell, there is no real difference between the way a basal thermometer and a regular thermometer work. The main difference is that, because you use a basal thermometer initially thing in the morning before you get out of bed, it has features so that you can use it in the dark. This thermometer beeps every 4 seconds for one minute as long as you have it in the aptly location. My only complaint is that the beeping bothers my husband, because I wake up before he does. I wrap the thermometer in a towel to muffle the beeping and that seems to do the trick. Other than that, the product works as expected. I like that it has a memory so that I don’t have to confirmation the temperature aptly away, although it only remembers the last temperature taken.
