I was disappointed that the control solution and the test strips were not included in this buy

I like this meter, the system is complete and nearly self contained. lancets have to be changed but you don’t have to pull them out, simply push a button and it drops out. same for the test strip, turn it on and it pops out ready for action.
my single complaint is that the test strips are hard to fill. they really let us down here. a fantastic meter and lance device built around mediocre test strips.
i like the thought of a self contained system, if they used surpass strips and made the lance drum filled instead of single use well, we’d all be customers. I don’t really be with you this, they make fantastic test strips ‘comfort curve’, and the ‘multi-clix lance’, so why not use proven equipment and the thought of an ‘all in one’ package????

I had been using the older Accu-chek compact plus, but recently replaced it with this revised version. So far no regrets – it’s the same terrific meter I’ve grown accustomed to, just in some new packaging.
Amongst the many features I like:
- Painless lancet…notably surpass than most of the competitors thankfulness to the thinner lancets and the teflon coating
- Vastly accurate…agrees exactly with my doctor’s unit and with the lab
- Convenient and simple to use, one piece design
- Large, legible show
- Drum design holds equipment for 17 tests so there’s less to carry around or fumble with
- Excellent memory functions built-in
- Long battery life…my last one was three years ancient and I never once needed to replace the batteries with daily testing
Something not mentioned on the Amazon product description is the wonderful interface to the Accu-chek software package called SmartPix, which you can order from the manufacturer. This software talks to the meter using an IR (infrared) signal like your TV remote control, and it lets you make all sorts of useful data on your PC. The product generates all sorts of charts and graphs, which you can share with your doctor to give him a much more detailed view of how you’ve been doing. I’m a huge believer in data pool on the PC, and I routinely monitor blood difficulty, exercise (via my pedometer) and blood sugar levels this way.
About the only complaint I have is that the equipment for this meter are somewhat hard to find locally, and when I can find them, they tend to be 2-3 times as expensive. I just order through Amazon way in advance and that seems to work for me. I also liked the older style case surpass, but luckily the meter fits in my ancient case.
Recommended.

I just bought this from my local walgreens on saturday. I like it. So much simpler to use. My freestyle freedom kept giving me very inaccurate reading no matter what i did. The only thing i don’t like is the case it came with. Not a huge deal though.

The meter stopped working after the 5th use. Had to call the manufacture and wait until they sent replacement batteries even though I clarified that we already tried two sets of new batteries. After installing the batteries that ACCU-CHECK sent, the meter still did not work. They sent a replacement meter after I called to inform them the batteries did not solve the problem. I like the product. Hoping this one does not stop working as well.
