I like Tegaderm and recommend it to everyone I know who gets nasty road rash or an oozing abrasion. (My initially “Tegaderm injury” was on my forearm, from inline skating.) Clean the injury thoroughly, place the Tegaderm frankly on the wound, and leave it there for a week, or until it falls off on its own. I suppose that sounds yucky, but it works. It vastly reduces the pain of accidentally touching my scraped skin against something, and there’s no scabbing (and cracking of the scab) as the abrasion heals. Basically Tegaderm is the scab. It is transparent and very thin, so I also wrapped a light self-glue “ace” type bandage on my arm to hide the gore, and I reckon that helped preclude the edges from coming off back. I did not buy the huge quantity that Amazon is selling now, but this is a fantastic deal compared to the price I paid for a much small quantity. I do recommend that you buy the largest size unfilled. For another injury I bought a smaller size and used two together, but there was some leakage from the overlapping parts of the two pieces.

After falling off an aspen slide, and sliding down the slide for several feet on my skin, I needed some help. Normal gauze and tape takes so much longer to heal. Tegaderm is much surpass for this type of wound.
